Gas oil energy is produced by burning byproducts of petroleum or oil. It has many uses including heating and powering homes, businesses and vehicles. It also has uses in the in agricultural and shipping industries.

Gas oil energy is created from refining crude oil or petroleum. At different stages of the refinement or “boiling” process, several forms of gas oil energy are derived.

Diesel is one of these forms of fuel. The sulfur is not removed from the diesel fuel. At another level of refinement, you get distillate oil or the fuel used in most vehicles known as gasoline. This is a lighter form of gas oil energy that does not contain sulfur.

Most diesel fuel is a mix of heavy petroleum and distillate. This fuel is used for heavy-duty vehicles with internal combustion engines such as big rig trucks, tractors and some consumer vehicles. This fuel’s main purpose is to fuel trucks, ships and some other vehicles such as cars and tractors or other farming equipment. Diesel gas oil energy is much more expensive than regular gasoline, so it is only used as a backup method for electricity.

Many consumers use diesel gas oil energy to power their backup generators for their homes during extended power outages. Some of these generators do use regular gasoline, but diesel generators are much more efficient and powerful. Some sports fans take gasoline or diesel burning generators to sporting events to power televisions or other electronics. Some recreationalists use larger diesel-powered generators for camping, particularly if they are at a camp location access to electrical hookups.

Most European countries restrict the use of diesel gas oil energy to cars, trucks and SUVs. Buses commonly use diesel fuel, as they need a slower burning fuel for their internal combustion engines.

Diesel gas oil energy is a more expensive option for everyday use unless the engine calls for it. Many power plants use diesel fuel when natural gas reserves are inaccessible as a backup power source.

One of the concerns surrounding gas oil energy in general is the environmental impact of this fuel. If this fuel leaks into water sources it kills native wildlife and pollutes the drinking water for consumers receiving their home’s water from these sources.
