Propane Pressure Regulator

A propane pressure regulator is a very important part of a propane tank.  The propane regulator is a specific part of the propane tank that helps keep the tank working properly and safely.  The propane pressure regulator regulates the usage of propane.  There are three main parts that make up the regulator; they are the LPG regulator diaphragm, the LPG pressure relief valve, and the regulator vent.  You need to be aware of each part of the propane tank when you have to use or deal with natural fuel.

The propane regulator vent allows the actual regulator to ventilate and breathe during the actual operation.  The vent allows the propane to flow properly by making sure that there is no pressure built up within the valves.  The diaphragm is a flexible rubber disc.  This disc fluctuates to allow the correct amount of propane to flow even when there is pressure building.  When the diaphragm does not work properly, an overpressure problem may arise.  You will need to deal with this type of issue immediately.

The pressure relief valve is the part of the regulator that will actually save the equipment when or if there is a certain amount of pressure built up.  If pressure builds up, the pressure relief valve will detect it, and will release and allow the pressure to escape.  You can purchase these standard parts online or at any hardware store.  In order to prevent the risk of potential danger, it is very highly recommended that a professional do the actual installation.  The cost of a regulator can vary in price from $10.00 to $30.00.  The price will depend on what type of regulator you purchase and from where you purchase it.

The specific type of propane tank you have will determine the exact type of regulator you will need.  Your propane regulator will be color coded to let you know what type you will need.  High-pressure regulators are colored red, and low pressure will be grey or silver in color.  Low-pressure regulators are like a two-stage regulator or an integral twin regulator.  The exact type of regulator you will need will depend on the type of propane cylinder or tank that you have.

It is very important that the regulator be working correctly so that the safety of your propane tank is not put in jeopardy.  The regulator is a safety barrier on your propane tank between the tank and your home.
