When did Electricity take a back seat ever since it was invented over the years and Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Edison showed it to the world? Electricity drives and has been the most important discovery which lead to the revolution of humankind on this planet. No industrial revolutions that used the mechanical energy to make things simpler would have been possible if it was not powered by the electrical Energy.
What happens when this important and taken for granted energy disappears from our lives…Paralysis is the only thing I can think of that can happen to us, given the fact that we have never even though that such an occurrence can ever happen. Statisticians solve multiple problems on probability on dice, cards, chairs, colored balls etc...However, very rarely, I have seen problems involving bulbs switching on and off…This only goes to explain how important is this form of energy and how without it we cannot even dream of.
This dream comes crashing in when nature decides to teach us the hard way and help us get this dependency removed so that we learn to find a way to survive despite the loss. That is exactly how the use of Propane evolved. Hurricanes destroy everything and do not give any special treatment to the electrical poles. Hence after any such calamities one notices that the houses in these areas remain without the basic needs of food, water, electricity and homes…Out of these three, electricity takes the longest to restore. So how does one store the Food and survive the dark nights…Propane fuelled appliances are the ones that then come to the rescue. In addition, propane refrigerators are the ones, which are the immediate requirement as they store food and water...
How does it work? Propane simply replaces electricity to power the refrigeration. Ammonia is the critical element which the propane powered refrigerators use. The basic design of a Propane Refrigerator consists of five critical parts. First is the generator, which is powered by propane as fuel that helps in making the ammonia. Ammonia is used as a coolant... A Separator is then used to separate the gas from the Water. A condenser is then included to cool the hot Ammonia gas and convert it into liquid Ammonia. The liquid ammonia is converted into vapors with help of an Evaporator. These vapors create the cold temperatures inside the refrigerators. These vapors also need to be absorbed by water, which form another important part of the refrigeration system…
All parts need to be maintained critically so that there is no untoward incident, which might cause damage to lives of the people using it. If maintained properly let me tell you….Mr. Edison would be envious…
