Propane Tank Adapter

Propane appliances such as grills, heaters, and stoves use propane tanks.  Propane tanks are a necessity for campers and most campers rely on these propane tanks to run the lanterns and grills.  In order to use a propane tank you must have a propane tank adapter.  With an adapter, you can adapt propane bottles to virtually any propane appliance.

It is a common belief that you can use a propane tank hose adapter to connect propane to an LP source but this is incorrect. You should only use propane adapters with propane tanks.  They come in different sizes from small to large.  The pressure remains the same no matter what size propane tank you use.

By using larger propane tanks for your appliances, you are benefiting the environment because they reduce waste.  Propane devices are usually designed for use with the smaller propane tanks.   The propane adapter makes using your propane devices easy to use and safer than gas or kerosene.  Propane adapters vary in length.  Small one-pound propane tank adapters are used to propane devices that need the larger tanks.

The one-pound propane tanks are best used in an emergency because they are more expensive to use and do not last as long as the larger propane tanks.  Any time you use an adapter to connect a propane device you should take precautions.  Always check your connections to make sure there are no leaks.  Checking the adapter connections are relatively easy to do when you use a spray bottle with dishwashing liquid and water.  If there is, a leak when you spray this solution on it the dishwashing liquid will bubble.  When installing make sure you turn all of the propane valves off.

Not all the propane appliances are so adaptable.  When purchasing the propane you will pay approximately $2.00 and can pay up to $5.00 for the one-pound bottles.  The 20-pound tanks will run about $20.00 to $30.00 depending on the retailer.

You can adapt your gas generator to propane and will not leave your engine or plugs with carbon deposits.  A home generator converted to use propane will be easier to use when you need it.  Propane is easier to store than gasoline and will not break down during storage so the propane does not gum up your fuelling system.  The best thing about converting to propane is the simple fact that you can save some money.
