Many companies are looking for experience or being in the top one percent of a class. They are looking for the brilliant worker who can challenge the situation and eventually move up in the company. If you just want to test gaming software for part time work it may be a little easier to go with smaller companies. The large software developers are definitely more difficult to get a job at, not only due to competition but also because of longevity of their workers.
