1 lb propane tanks are best for use with an outdoor lantern.  There are other uses for the 1 lb propane tank, too, like some outdoor grills and other outdoor items.  It can be a little frustrating if you are not sure which propane tank to purchase for your outdoor equipment.  I hope that I can assist you in your task of selecting your propane tank. 

When you are an avid outdoorsman, and go camping numerous times a year, 1 lb propane tanks are a necessity.  When using 1 lb. propane tanks with outdoor lanterns, they provide bright light.  Still considered one of the most favoured items for use outdoors camping, lanterns come in a variety of sizes and shapes.  They use different types of fuel like gas, and kerosene.  The propane lantern, however, is the best to use.  They give off enough light to be able to see clearly in your camping sites or fishing hole.   

Propane lanterns come in a variety of sizes and shapes, also.  When the power is out you can use propane lanterns inside the home or inside your tent when camping.  They are safer than the other gas lights because do not have open fuel.  You can hang your propane lanterns on any tree limb when you use them outdoors for camping.  Propane lanterns use mantles and are available with more than one mantle inside to brighten any area. 

Other items that you can use 1 lb propane tanks include stoves, heaters, and grills.  1 lb. propane tanks can be used with all of these items and there are packs you can purchase that will hold more than one container.   

One-pound propane tanks are not refillable and must be disposed of properly.  After you have hooked up and used all the propane from your 1 lb propane tank, turn the knob on the propane tank until it is in the off position.  Make sure you use all of the propane before doing this.  Leave the tank set until it has cooled, then remove it from the appliance by disconnecting the tube or the actual appliance.  The propane tank is now ready for disposal in your outdoor trash receptor.  You may also take the tank to a local waste facility. 

One-pound propane tanks are relatively inexpensive.  You can purchase 1 lb. propane cylinders in six packs or individually.  1-pound propane tanks or cylinders are easy to find they are available at local retailers and hardware stores.
