Small Propane Tanks
A small propane gas is easier to take to your local store for refilling. It is not bulky and can be carried in your van. However, you may find it tiresome if the tank runs out of gas at the same time. The small propane tanks can be filled at home. You can keep a supply tank at home and refill it when empty. It is a simple task that can ensure that you always have propane to use at home.
You may have a digital scale, Mac coupler and wrench for to refill your small propane tanks safely. The digital scale is used to find out the weight of the small tanks. It helps to fill the right amount of propane gas in the tank.
The small tanks needs to be placed under cold temperature. This helps give them a different temperature which can make the refilling easy. It is advisable that you put the tankers in a freezer so that they can get very cold. Then, they will be ready for refilling.
To refill the small tanks, connect the Mac coupler to the small tank. Then, tighten the coupler on tank fitting with the wrench. Make sure that leakage can not happen. That can be dangerous for you and your family.
The other end of the Mac coupler should be connected to the big tank which is the supplier. Even your grill propane tank can be used to refill the small tanks. It saves you the hustle of carrying the small tanks to the hardware for refilling.
The two tanks should be turned upside down. This makes the gas, which is a heavy liquid, to move from the big tank to the smaller one. All this should be done cautiously putting in mind that you are handling highly flammable gas.
When the two tanks are in the right positions, open the valve on the supply tank. This marks the beginning of the transfer of the propane gas into the small tank. It should not take more than thirty seconds to refill one small tank.
Turn the valve off and disconnect the small propane tanker from the Mac coupler. Make sure that you shut the valve on the big tank. Then, weigh the small propane tank, and check the amount of liquid transferred by subtracting the weight of the tank. If the weight is not enough, repeat the same process until you can get the correct amount.
